Our Services
Head to Tail Veterinary Physiotherapy is a small animal physiotherapy service, focused on improving the physical function, mobility, and overall quality of life of pets. We focus on animals such as dogs, cats, and other small animals. We help manage pain, aid recovery from injury or surgery, and support animals with chronic conditions such as arthritis or neurological disorders.
Common Conditions Treated:
Osteoarthritis

Elbow dysplasia
Tendinopathies
Post operative rehabilitation
Acute or Chronic Intervertebral Disc Disease
Fibrocartilaginous embolism (FCE)
Patella luxation
Performance Optimisation
…don’t have a diagnosis? Maybe we can help you get one, and if not we can treat what we find.
We offer a thorough head to tail assessment with each treatment plan tailored to the individual animal's needs.
Treatment is guided by the assessment findings and could include:
LASER THerapy
LASER therapy (Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation), also known as photobiomodulation, is a non-invasive treatment that uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate healing at a cellular level. We use Class IV LASER therapy, which delivers a higher power output for deeper tissue penetration and faster results. This advanced technology is effective in reducing pain and inflammation and accelerating tissue repair. It is a safe, gentle, and drug-free option that can be part of a broader physiotherapy or rehabilitation plan.
Manual Therapy
Manual therapy involves hands on treatment techniques used to assess and improve joint and soft tissue function. It includes a range of skilled movements such as joint mobilisations, soft tissue massage, myofascial release, stretching, and passive range of motion exercises. Via neuromodulation these techniques help to relieve pain, reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and restore mobility.
Exercise Prescription
Therapeutic exercise prescription is often considered the cornerstone of physiotherapy and involves a structured, individualised plan of physical exercises. Each exercise is carefully tailored to the individual needs of the animal, considering their specific diagnosis, stage of healing, lifestyle, and temperament. Providing a home exercise programme reinforces the progress made within a physiotherapy session and allows this to continue afterwards as well. With professional guidance and regular reassessment, therapeutic exercises can improve strength, mobility, balance, and coordination—supporting a safer, faster recovery and enhancing your pet’s quality of life.
Other Services:
K-Taping
Keniso tape gently lifts the skin, creating space between the skin and underlying tissues. It can be used in conjuciton with other treatments to aid in lympatic drainage, muscle activation or relaxation and proprioception.
TENS & NMES
TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) and NMES (Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation) are both electrotherapy techniques using gentle electrical impulses.
TENS helps to block pain signals and stimulates endorphin release, while NMES promotes muscle contractions to maintain strength and support recovery.
Custom Bracing
Following assessment and if indicated we provide measuring, ordering and fitting of custom braces.
